Merrill Park Campground- Eagle Lake-CA

Eagle lake is just north of Susanville, CA. A beautiful lake surrounded by a diverse landscape. You can choose to camp in a desert or in a pine forest. There are many campgrounds along the shore. I chose Merrill park. It has full hookups for $25 a night. Across the hwy, from the campground, is a RV waste water dump station with potable water for just $5. This is great if you are just passing thru or staying at one of the local no hookup campgrounds. Here is a pic of my campsite.

The first thing I spotted when I arrive was a White-headed Woodpecker. It was on a pine tree right by my campsite. Another first for my birding life list!

Here are pics of other some of the types of wildlife found in the area.
A hydaspe fritillary butterfly
 A ruddy copper butterfly
A doe and her two fawns. As I watched, the doe dug up a couple of mushrooms that they fed on!
