Lahontan Lake-Silver Springs-NV

Spent a week at Lahontan Lake. Had great birding and a coyote serenade almost every night! There is a developed camping area as well as dispersed camping along the lake. I stayed in the dispersed area so I cant say much about the developed area. There is an RV dump station onsite and potable water. Camping was $15 a night. Here is a shot of the sunrise. There were some beautiful moon rises when the full moon rose above the horizon and reflected off the lake. Unfortunately my camera could not capture it in the low light.

Here is my camp site. There were plenty of trees for shade. Took a swim in the lake and it was refreshing!

Now for photos of some of the wildlife! First these 2 of  cottontail rabbits. The first rabbit is what I would expect to see but I am at a loss as to why the second one has weird ears! I asked the ranger but she did not know either.

Maybe this critter caught it by the ears and it got free.
Downy Woodpecker
 Great Horned Owl
Western Bluebird
