What's all the noise?

Last Friday, I was sitting in my RV when I heard the roar of a helicopter motor. I did not pay much attention to the sound as the Coast Guard often does a flyby by since I am not far from the beach. The noise faded a bit then got loud again! I still ignored the sound until it flew over a third time. I grabbed my binoculars and headed out the door. I expected to see a orange and black helicopter but the one I saw was yellow and red! I looked thru my binoculars and could see it was a Canada Rescue helicopter.

It hovered over the hillside south of me and lowered a cable. After a few minutes it lifted someone up.

Once inside it flew off. Today, a Coast Guard representative stopped by as they want to place life jackets at the boat ramp here. I asked about the helicopter and he said they often cross train with Canada Rescue. Both agencies use the same ships and helicopters which make cross training easier. It is fun to see something out of the ordinary right in your backyard!

Struggling with the wet and cold weather!

I am not sure about the number of rainy days or what is average but there certainly has been more than last winter! Every once in a while, in the midst of a spell of dreary weather, the sun breaks through the clouds and you get a sight like this!

I think I can handle the rain for a bit longer!
